The Master of Arts in Historic Preservation Program equips the self-motivated graduate student with a strong understanding of the theory and practice of historic preservation through rigorous application of critical thinking and mentoring by outstanding practitioners and academicians in the field.

Though you will have five years to complete all the degree requirements, most students will do it in three years. Each year you have the opportunity to participate in a 10-day residency at Goucher where you will work intensively with faculty and peers and learn from site visits and guest speakers. Residency offers an opportunity to complete selected courses and to participate in introductory sessions for courses that are completed online. Here is a sample program timeline and an average time frame for completing the program. The number of credits you take each semester will determine how long it will take to complete the program.
